For over 300 years, the Heger family has run a winery and farm in Wilhelmsdorf, near the wine town of Poysdorf in the northern Weinviertel.

In this area near the Czech border viticulture has always played an important role. The autochthonous variety Grüner Veltliner and the sort-typical Welschriesling have been important cultural and economic components for centuries. Historically, mainly sparkling wines and the typical Bünnerstraßler, a fresh acid-proof wine, were produced in the area around Poysdorf.

The Weingut Heger, a family business, produces these typical wines and reserves on a very high level. In the penultimate generation, Heinz Heger has built a distillery and, in addition to the wines, the Wegerut Heger also produces high-quality distillates.
